“WhatsApp -world’s most popular instant messaging app”. And for good reason – it receives a steady stream of updates, it has a long list of features and supports a wide range of devices. It is a little surprised why it hit the Arab user’s mark. Want to get the most from the forum? We need some necessary Whatsapp tricks that you should use.
1. Create bold, italicized, or strikethrough text
This is for some time now, but you will not be surprised how many people do not know about this clean WhatsApp trick.
Just enter an asterisk (*) at the beginning and end of the desired word or sentence and you can bold it. So if you want to bold the word biscuit, you need to type * Biscuit *. The same goes for italic, with only an underscore (_) on either side of the desired text. To strike through the text, you have to add a tilde (~) at the beginning and end of the desired route.
Want an easy way to do all this? Then highlight the word or path in question, tap “More” and choose from bold, italicize, strikethrough or monospace. Although it does not work on all devices, you may have to go a long way.
2. Quote a message in your response
Whether the speed of your texting is very fast or the group chat constantly sees new messages, quoting is one of the best WhatsApp tricks to manage the context.
To quote someone, you want to hold on the desired message, then tap the arrow icon that points to the left (this is the first arrow that appears on top). From here, you can write your feedback with the attached message to see everyone.
3. Stop auto-downloading via mobile data
One of our favorite WhatsApp tricks can really help you save some precious mobile data.
Whatsapp has some ways to save data while still receiving notifications and messages. First of all, disable the app’s ability to download media on mobile data. This is done using Settings> Data and storage usage> Mobile data.
From this section, you can uncheck or uncheck the downloading of photos, audio, video and documents through mobile data. In this way, you have to actually tap the file to download it. Videos, in particular, are huge data hogs, so we recommend leaving it unchecked.
4. Stop WhatsApp calls chewing data
Whatsapp Call is a useful feature on the platform, but if you are on a heavy user or a limited plan, they can consume a lot of mobile data. Thankfully, we know more Whatsapp tricks for improving data consumption. If you want to save some bandwidth, go to Settings> Data and Storage usage> Less data usage and tick the box to reduce the amount of data used in the call.
5. Get a breakdown of WhatsApp data usage
Ship with all Android phones or data usage trackers for the last five years, allowing you to break the data-usage app-by-app. But there is also a tracker in WhatsApp, which gives you category-by-category data usage.
To access Whatsapp’s data usage log, you have to go to Settings> Data & storage usage> Network usage. Here change the data usage related to Google Drive, Roaming, WhatsApp calls, status updates, messages, and overall usage. The biggest downside is that Wi-Fi does not appear in the cellular breakdown – it all becomes involved in the same category.
6. View a breakdown of storage by contact
Storage usage functionality (settings> data and storage usage> storage usage) can show some impressive figures.
This feature allows you to see the rankings used by the contacts. This is the place by which the contactor group uses the highest amount of storage on your phone. Just tap on a contact/group and you’ll see a breakdown of messages, photos, GIFs, videos and more.
7. Clear files from your storage
You can see all those contacts who hog all the storage. If you wish, you can erase these files with your phone.
You just have to go to the Storage Usage section once again (Settings> Data & Storage> Storage Use). From here, you select a contact or group and tap on “Manage Messages.” You can then choose categories that require cleanup within that contact or group. So if your group of friends has a 50MB video clip, just keep the “video” category and uncheck the rest. Then you want to hit the “Clear Message” button and choose if starred messages are included in the wipe.
8. Request your account info
Like Facebook and Twitter, Whatsapp allows you to request a zip file for your account information and settings. Although your messages are not included in it, only collecting your profile photo, whether you agree with that Facebook data policy, group names and so on.
To do this, you have to go to settings> account> request account information, then tap on “request report”. It takes two to three days to get the report. However, if you want to delete or re-register your account or change your number or device, then the request will be canceled.
Although you can not see this file in WhatsApp, try to use any other program on your phone or PC instead.
9. Activate two-step verification
By default, WhatsApp asks for your number and pin once when switching the device. However, enabling two-step verification means no one can access your WhatsApp account even they have your sim card.
To enable this, you will need to go to Settings> Account> Two-Step Verification. From here, whenever you add WhatsApp to a new phone, you will be asked to create a six-digit PIN. If you forget your PIN, you can also add your email address.
A large scale inspection is that you do not need to enter a PIN when attempting to disable two-step verification from the original device.
10. Disable read receipts
Ah, bad blue tick icon. For uninvited, this means that a message has been seen. If you prefer to hoax your contacts, you can disable read receipts (can erase the blue tick) by going to Settings> Account> Privacy and unchecking the receipts “Read receipts” box.
Remember that it works in both ways, so when you do not read their messages, you can not see your contacts and you can not see them when you do not read their messages.
